Call for Proposals
Approaches:
We invite papers and panel proposals from graduate students in English studies and other related fields including interdisciplinary areas of study. We welcome a range of perspectives on texts including American studies, African American studies, Comparative Literature, Composition and Rhetoric, Creative Writing, Critical Theory, Cultural Studies, Disability Studies, Diaspora Studies, Film Studies, Gay/Lesbian/Transgender/Intersex/Queer Studies, Latino/a Studies, Linguistics, Media Studies, Pedagogy, Professional Writing, Secondary Education, Textual Studies, and Women's Studies.
Topics:
Possible topics include but are by no means limited to the creation and (contra)conception of texts, interpretations of texts (whether literary or otherwise), reception of texts, (self)censorship and suppression of texts, adaptations of texts, histories of texts, inter-textualities, textual sexualities, countertexts, textual revolutions and evolutions, literacies and pedagogies of texts, translations, treacherous texts, archival texts, science fictions, fabulations, fantasies, illustrated texts, queer texts, secret texts, double texts, visual and cultural texts, creative writing, and writing across the curriculum.

The proposal(s) may be pasted into the body of the email or attached in a Word .doc or docx format
Individual proposals must include a 250-500 word abstract and the individual's name, title of the paper, affiliation (if any), preferred phone number(s), and e-mail address.
Panel proposals must include the title of the panel, the 250 word abstract for the panel proposal, and the 250-500 word abstracts of individual presenters’ papers. Please also include the names, paper titles, affiliations (if any), phone numbers and email addresses of all participants.
Please indicate whether AV support will be needed.
Panels will be one and a half hours long.
Presentations will be 15-20 minutes long (papers should be no more than 6 pages for a 15 minute presentation and no more than 8 pages for a 20 minute presentation).
Pre-registration fees are $10 for SCSU students and faculty and $25 for non-SCSU participants and attendees.
Pre-registration fees must be received by Friday, April 13, 2012.
On-site registration fees are $15 for SCSU students and faculty and $30 for non-SCSU participants and attendees.
